Our thorough Lotion & Cream making workshop will teach you how to make emulsified lotions, creams, and body butters using natural and premium ingredients. You can learn how to choose the right oils and butters, emulsifiers, and preservatives. With our 10 year experience in making and selling handmade creams and lotion throughout the world, we will guide you with tips, hints and tricks to achieve a perfect emulsification every single time – wether you are making a hydrating face cream, a light body lotion, a healing foot balm or even moisturising conditioner! You will make 2 to 3 small batches of different scalable formulations during the lotion and cream making workshop.
During this workshop we will discuss
- Differences between hydrous and anyhydrous creams
- Thorough indepth look at ingredients and their specific functions
- Understand the difference between O/W and W/O and decide what is best for your different uses.
- Different phases
- Emulsification
- Preservation
- Storage
DURING THE HANDS-ON PORTION OF CLASS YOU WILL GET TO:
- Mix your oils and other ingredients
- Customise your lotion/cream with your own essential oil blends and natural (or synthetic) colourants
- Enjoy the magic and science of turning oils to soaps.
- Learn to formulate your own recipe from scratch
- You will make 2 – 3 different formulations.

Lotion and Cream Making Workshop – Natural Handmade Soap
This is a physical hands-on class that takes place at our studio in Cape Town, during the week.
- Venue:Olive Handmade Soaps – Unit A3 Spearhead Business Park, Montague Gardens, Montague Drive.
- Class duration: 10am to 2 or 3pm depending on how many guest (maximum 2) and Q&A session.
- Skill level: No prior experience is needed to join our class. We will teach you everything beginner to intermediate level. If you want to start a business – we will be happy to discuss your questions.
- Class Size: We host a maximum of 2 guests per allocated day to allow for personal attention
- What will be provided: During the lotion and cream making workshop, we will provide all the ingredients and equipment you need. You will be able to buy a lotion and cream making kit or raw ingredients at the end of the workshop for you to take home.
- Refreshments: We will offer tea/coffee throughout the course – please feel free to bring your own substantial lunch.
- You will take home:
– A lotion and cream making workshop booklet, essential oil blending booklet and a recipe booklet.

- Once payment has been made you will receive an email from us confirming your booking. Attendees do not receive a physical ticket.
