Soap Making Workshop – 20 APRIL 2024



Our cold-process, natural soap-making workshops are fun, vibrant, thorough and not to mention extra- informative. We spend the first half of the workshop covering theory (the science of saponification) and how to formulate your own recipes.  During the hands-on part, you will get to choose your own additives such as clays, teas or herbs and essential oils to add to our recipe that we have created for the workshop.  You will learn everything you need to know to make soap at home, including where to source your ingredients.  We provide everything you need for this 4 to 5 hour workshop, including

  • Soapmaking recipes
  • Ingredients
  • Equipment
  • Protective clothing (goggles, gloves, aprons) and
  • Lunch

You take home the class notes and the soap you make (worth R910)

Cold Process Soapmaking Workshop – Natural Handmade Soap

This is a physical hands-on class that takes place at our studio in Cape Town,  Montague Gardens.

Date: 20 April 2024
Time: 10am – 3/ 4pm (please  note we may finish earlier or later depending on the group dynamics, please advise ahead of time if you will be pressed for time)
Venue: Olive Handmade Soaps – Unit A7 Spearhead Business Park, Montague Gardens, Montague Drive.
Skill level and class size: No prior experience is needed to join our class.  We will teach you everything beginner to intermediate level We host a maximum of 6 guests to allow for personal attention

In the workshop we will cover the following:
– What is soap
– Different types of soaps
– Methods of soapmaking
– Equipment and supplies needed
– Soap making oils and their properties

What will be provided:  All soapmaking equipment, including safety  gear, and ingredients will be provided.   You will take the soap you make and leave behind all the other equipment and gear.  You will be able to buy a soap making kit or raw ingredients at the end of the workshop.
–  Lunch.

You will take home:
– A soap-making workshop booklet, essential oil blending booklet and a recipe booklet.
– A batch of handmade soaps that your would have made, with retail value of R910

What to wear?
Please wear closed shoes and long sleeve t shirts.  We will provide aprons and safety gear for the day. Please wear masks.

What to bring?

Please bring a towel and a shoe box to keep your soap insulated and  safe in transit.

Once payment has been made you will receive an email from us confirming your booking.   Attendees do not receive a physical ticket.  Bookings are not refundable.  If you are unable to attend you are welcome to gift the ticket to a friend. We reserve the right to cancel the workshop at any time in which case we will issue refunds.

You will soon be making your own natural soap at home, or even starting a small business with your new skill.  Do not hesitate to contact us should you need more information

The class runs from 10am to  3/4pm on a selected Saturday.  Please budget enough time to attend the class.

Off-course you will take home the soap you make on the day (+- 15 bars of soap).

Please bring a towel, and wear a long-sleeve tops and closed shoes.
